In an ongoing investigation into a post-minimal futuristic landscape, Matthew Isaacson ombines industrial manufactured porcelain tiles and fabricated steel to create ‘A Grandiose Numerical Equation’. “While the idea of creating a city boggles my mind; images of the post-modern landscape continuously evolve in my imagination as I work with a “fixed” yet flexible medium. Stacked tile forms are reminiscent of architectural wonders, op-art, and DNA, possible blueprints of the genetic instructions used in the development and unctioning of all living organisms. This simple act of playfully stacking combined with a focused intention of balance and order sits on the verge of potential chaos.”
