Jay Musler Let There Be Light

Let There be Light

A glass sculptor with an unusual and eccentric style, Jay Musler works with subtly cartoonish shape, a dry, dessicated olor palette, and uses repetition and difference to construct objects that both absorb and unsettle the viewer: exhibiting the enchanting nature of an artifact not quite recognizable, yet intruiging all the same. Musler cuts, paints and assembless glass into large wall pieces, creating latticed patterns of glass with hidden flameworked objects, oil paint saturating
the surface with rich and varied colors. His work, unlike so many results in glass today seems to absorb light rather than reflect it.  The final surface results in a beautiful palette of muted yellows, greens, aquas and pinks.
