REBECCA HUTCHINSON

Rebecca Hutchinson received her MFA from the University of Georgia, Athens and her BFA from Berea College. Her site specific works have been influenced by ecosystem dynamics and environmental concerns. Rebecca Hutchinson’s sculptural work has been shown across the United States at venues such as: SOFA (represented by Duane Reed Gallery), the National Museum for Women in the Arts, San Francisco Museum of Craft and Design, Daum Museum, Burlington Contemporary Art Center, Lowe Museum of Art, Islip Museum of Art, Canton Museum of Art, Holter Museum of Art, Racine Museum of Art, Perlman Museum, Fuller Craft Museum, Missoula Museum of Art, Frances Young Tong Museum, University of Tulsa, Blue Star Contemporary; Internationally at Museums in Taiwan Ceramics Biennale, Keramikos International Della Ceramica D’Arte, Italy, Belgium, South Korea, and Vendrell Biennale of Vendrell Spain amongst others.

 

Rebecca was recognized by James Renwick Association with the Distinguished Artist Award and she was selected as the Massachusetts representative for the National Museum of Women in the Arts 2015, Women to Watch Exhibition. She is a New England Artist Award recipient and fellowship recipient from: The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Puffin Foundation, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Virginia Cultural Commission, The North Carolina Arts Council, Virginia Commission of the Arts, a Museum of Fine Arts Maud Morgan Award finalist, NEA fellowship finalist for the Southern Arts Federation. 

 

Rebecca’s work has been published in over 80 publications nationally and internationally—notably, Sculpture, Surface Design, Orion, Huffington Post, American Craft, Ceramics Monthly, La Ceramica, Ceramics Ireland, Ceramics Art and Perception, New Ceramics, Korean Ceramic Art Monthly, Women in the Arts, and Revista Ceramica Contemporanea.

 

Prominent collections which hold Rebecca’s work include: the National Museum of Women in the Arts, the Maldives Waldorf Astoria, the Boston Children’s Hospital, the Yingge Museum (Taiwan), the Perlman Museum, the Georgia Museum of Art, and the Canton Museum of Art.
