JESSE SMALL
Jesse Small maintains art studios in both the United States and in China; the resuliting East-West polination of cultural influences, experience, and ideas fuel and shape his art practice. Small uses computer technology combined with anchient materials and methods to construct his sculpture. This duality of material and process is echoed in the content of his art.
Small’s work includes porcelain figurines and lace-like steel chandeliers inspired by branches and twigs he has documented during his travels.
Small was a Lighton International Artists Exchange Program grant recipient, and took his residency at the Experimental Sculpture Factory, Jingdezhen, China. He has received grants and awards from Charlotte Street Foundation, Kansas City, MO and the Kansas City Branch Art Through Architecture.
